- Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) vessel Escape will be making an unscheduled visit to St. Maarten on Tuesday. NCL decided to change its itinerary due to inclement weather that was forecasts to be in the vicinity of Belize.
July Cruise Figures Surpass Expectations

- For the first seven months of 2017, Port St. Maarten has catered to 1,097,040 cruise passengers via 387 vessel calls. For the month of July, the destination saw a 16.5 per cent increase in cruise passengers – 85,432 when compared to the same month in 2016 (73,338). Overall ship occupancy for the month of July was 119.40 per cent. The destination has seen figures grow over five consecutive months.
Disney Fantasy to Call at Port St. Maarten on Tuesday

This shows a positive temperature and can be associated to some positive movements within the economy of the country. Port St. Maarten transshipment cargo continues to show robust double-digit growth numbers showing an increase of 17% compared to same period last year.

- The most significant development in St. Maarten in 2015 was the acquisition and commissioning of a new port crane – the largest mobile crane in the north eastern Caribbean. The Terex Gottwald Model 6 mobile harbour crane arrived at the Dr. A.C. Wathey cruise and cargo facility at the end of August, and the commissioning process was completed on October 15th. The purchase was financed by RBC (Royal Bank of Canada). The 14-year old HMK 260E Gottwald (referred to as Crane 1), which the Model 6 replaced, was sold to a group in Mexico by broker Pacific Handling Systems Inc.
